My Story

Meet Heather Nelson, PT, DPT, SCS, CAPP-OB, CMTPT, CAFS, CSCS

Heather Nelson is passionate about helping people move better, feel stronger, and get back to doing the things they love. A graduate of Carroll University, Heather earned her Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and later her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2009. She has spent her entire career in outpatient orthopedics, caring for patients of all ages and activity levels.

As a Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist since 2013, Heather especially enjoys working with athletes—from young competitors to weekend warriors—as well as helping individuals recover from concussions and vestibular conditions.

Heather is also certified in dry needling through Myopain Seminars and loves seeing how this technique can help reduce pain, relieve muscle tension, and restore mobility when trigger points are limiting movement.
One of Heather's greatest passions is supporting women during pregnancy and postpartum which lead her to an Obstetric Physical Therapy certification (CAPP-OB) through the American Physical Therapy Association. She helps women navigate everything from pregnancy-related aches and pains and pelvic floor concerns to birth preparation, postpartum recovery, core strengthening, and returning to exercise and running with confidence. She is a strong believer that staying active during pregnancy can lead to healthier outcomes for both mom and baby.

Heather also values the role that nutrition, exercise, and a whole-person approach play in improving health and quality of life. She loves being part of the CTI team because it allows her to care for patients beyond traditional insurance limitations and focus on helping them achieve lifelong wellness.
When she's not in the clinic, you'll likely find Heather training for a running race, playing piano at church or accompanying vocal students, getting creative with a craft project, reading a good book, or enjoying weekend adventures with her husband and two children.
